Celestino Vietti will get to test a MotoGP machine for the first time today at the Valencia MotoGP Pre-season Test.
At the Valencia MotoGP Test, Celestino Vietti will make his MotoGP debut for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team as a replacement for Franco Morbidelli.
Morbidelli suffered a left-hand injury before the Valencia Grand Prix when he collided with Aleix Espargaro on the grid before the season finale.
On Sunday evening, Vietti was expecting to fly home at the end of the Moto2 season, but now has his first opportunity to test a Ducati Desmosedici.
"It was really unexpected," Vietti told the MotoGP World Feed.
"A big thank you to VR46 and my team, SpeedRS. I am really happy, maybe a bit too excited. I really want to try to feel it, nothing more, only to enjoy.
"It is a present from the team, and I really appreciate it."
When asked about the opportunity to test a MotoGP machine, Vietti called it a 'dream that every rider has' and completing a lap on the Ducati will be 'a dream come true.
"I was ready to go home on Monday," he explained.
"Unfortunately, Franky [Morbidelli] is missing the test because of an injury. Then they [VR46] said, 'maybe we can try to test with you'. So, I told them that I would be here, and if it was possible, I would be super happy to do it.
"Everything was in line, so we can do it, only to enjoy, and see what it is like to ride a MotoGP bike."
He added, "It is a dream that every rider has."
"To have the possibility to even do one lap is a dream come true. So, it is really a good thing, I want to enjoy this day, and I will remember it for all my life."
