Toprak Razgatlioglu will be “riding like my style” in MotoGP but not in 2026

Pramac Racing.

Toprak Razgatlkioglu thinks it could take until 2027 to be able to ride in his own style in MotoGP.

The Turkish star found substantial success in WorldSBK, winning three titles and 78 races between 2019 and 2025, and he found that success with an almost unique style, characterised by heavy, late, but controlled braking and an aggressive approach to bar-to-bar combat.

The extremity of Razgatlioglu’s style has long been viewed as a potential hindrance in MotoGP, where the front-rear grip balance often makes it difficult to push in braking.

Razgatlioglu is adamant that he will be able to ride in MotoGP in the way that he wants to, but he has admitted that it might be 2027 before he is able to do so.

“This is very important,” Razgatlioglu told MotoGP.com when asked at the Pramac team launch if he will be able to bring his WorldSBK style to MotoGP.

“I need to bring also my style, but maybe this year not.

“But next year I think 90 per cent because I [will] understand the bike, the style.”

Razgatlioglu added that he will need to adapt his style, because it doesn’t work in tracks that need high mid-corner speed.

“If you’re riding like my style, some tracks the bike is not working, some tracks you need more corner speed.

“I need to change a little bit my riding style, I need to make like a mix, but we will see.

“I’m easy to say now, but the riding style, try to change this is not easy.

“But for 2027, that year I think I’m riding like my style. I believe this. But we will see again.”

Razgatlioglu “doesn’t need a mentor”

While Razgatlioglu enters as a rookie in MotoGP, he will have a highly experienced teammate on the other side of the Pramac Yamaha box in the shape of Jack Miller.

The Australian has made a positive first impression on Razgatlioglu.

“Especially with Jack [Miller], he’s a really good teammate, he’s very funny, this is good,” the Turkish rider said.

“I understand, we are working together a lot.”

Miller, though, will not play a paternal role to Razgatlioglu, whom the Australian feels has enough external influence already from his manager and former WorldSSP Champion Kenan Sofuoglu.

“He [Razgatlioglu] doesn’t need a mentor, I don’t think,” Miller told MotoGP.com. “And he’s got plenty of that with Kenan.”

Miller added that Razgatlioglu is an “absolute legend of a bloke, we’ve had a great couple of days here getting to know each other away from the track, away from people.

“It’s been nice to get to know him as a person. I’m really looking forward to this year, I think it’ll be a lot of fun.”

Miller is entering the second year of his time with Pramac Yamaha, but the fifth season with the Italian team after spending three years there, from 2018–2020, when it ran Ducati machinery. He therefore understands well the atmosphere of the team, and feels that Razgatlioglu fits into that.

“Pramac is known for being quite a family-oriented team, and Toprak really embraces that sort of atmosphere, so I think it’s going to be an awesome addition to the team,” he said.

“Really looking forward to the year ahead with him and seeing, first and foremost, how I get on but also watching his progression and how he adapts.

“It’s going to be awesome to have another really, extremely talented and fast rider on the motorcycle as well, so some more data for us to try to study and look at.”
