Fermin Aldeguer gets VR46 switch for MotoGP 2027

Gold and Goose

VR46 Ducati has announced the signing of Fermin Aldeguer for the 2027 MotoGP season.

Aldeguer will join the VR46 team as what is expected to be an all-new line-up for next season.

The Spaniard’s team-mate has not yet been confirmed, although it is expected that current WorldSBK points leader Nicolo Bulega will replace Franco Morbidelli at the team owned by Valentino Rossi for the 2027 MotoGP campaign.

The VR46 team is set to remain as the official satellite team of Ducati in 2027, which will be the first of the 850cc regulations in MotoGP.

Until now, the Italian squad has not had more than one factory-spec Desmosedici in its pit box, allocated to Fabio Di Giannantonio – who will move to KTM next year – in the past two seasons. Aldeguer himself has been tied to Ducati since he moved up to MotoGP in 2025, after signing to step up from Moto2 at the start of 2024.

Aldeguer is already a race winner in MotoGP, that coming at Indonesia in 2025, but his 2026 season has been a difficult one. Initially, it was the 2025 Ducati that Aldeguer struggled with, but more recently he has been hit by injury and hasn’t raced since Czechia after fracturing a vertebra at Assen in practice for the Dutch Grand Prix.

The Murcian was able to return to riding recently and could make his return to MotoGP at the next race in Aragon this weekend.

The VR46 team, with the aforementioned Di Giannantonio, has enjoyed a more successful season, with a victory at Catalunya, podiums in the Brazilian and Spanish grands prix, and Sprint podiums in Brazil, Catalunya, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.
