Yamaha's Ben Spies will start his MotoGP World Championship campaign from scratch at this weekend's Barcelona round after a string of poor results knocked his confidence.
The former World Superbike Champion, who has only finished two races this year, reckons that after grinding out a result at Le Mans, he can start again in Spain and re-build some of the confidence he had in himself at Qatar.
"The start of the year was ok, you know. Qatar and then Jerez, where I made a mistake in the rain, we had a small problem at Estoril but then we had a result and it was great to finish a race at Le Mans which is a track I don't really care for," said Spies, speaking at the pre-event press conference today.
"It wasn't a great result but just to get some points was a good feeling but now we come to these six races at tracks I do like so I just want to get some confidence back. You have a couple of bad weekends and if you're not on your A-game you struggle a bit, we just have to get the ball rolling again. I'm starting this race weekend like it's starting the championship again."
