An as-yet-unnamed motorcycle racer has allegedly been caught in a doping ring busted by Andorran police which involves some 60 professional athletes, 42 of which are cyclists.
Police tracked more than 500 sales of performance enhancing products over a 12-month period, but investigators say the internet pharmacy responsible was operating for the past six years.
Drugs sold include blood booster EPO, steroids and other banned substances, but named specifically Solcoseryl, an extract of calf blood which is said to help increase oxygen consumption in hypoxic conditions. A man and his wife, as well as three others who operated a store in Barcelona which sold DHEA, face sentences of six months to two years in prison for trafficking drugs.
