MotoGP Brno test: Rossi 'testing for the long term' says Ducati boss

Marlboro Ducati technical boss Filippo Preziosi has said that Valentino Rossi is testing for the mid to long-term at Brno today and has already been out to use some polar opposite setups to check a variety of parameters.

Preziosi, who is widely regarded as the father of the Desmosedici, is looking as far ahead as one year but said Rossi is using different settings to confirm they are in the right place with their weight distribution and centre of gravity calculations.

"The test today is based on understanding what are the main directions for the mid and long-term future. We test a very different setup in order to check the preferred weight distribution and centre of gravity for Valentino in order to give the designers the targets for the new bikes," said Preziosi, speaking to bikesportnes.com at lunch.

"Mid-term is one year. There are some prototype components in order to make suitable these big changes. Some tests are theoretical and you will not run with that configuration but you need the data and feeling for to understand.

"We did a small step yesterday, not a big one. I believe that still the main problem is the turning and the confidence entering the corner, so we are focused on that and as soon as we have something available we will put it into production.

"We cannot know now whether it is for this year or next year but we are focused on that."
