'No fantastic laptimes' at Rossi's Deltabox Ducati test

Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi has spoken for the first time about testing a new Deltabox-style chassis for next year's Desmosedici GP12 MotoGP bike, saying he didn't set any fantastic laptimes and there is still a lot of work to do.

Rossi, who is an excellent sandbagger, spent a day at Jerez with the FTR-built full frame around the 1000cc engine and was thought to have set a similar pace to Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner who tested at the Spanish track earlier this year.

"We tested after Aragon at Jerez with one day to spend working on the thousand Ducati for next year. We try to understand as more as possible so we have a good base to work from Valenica and for the first test of 2012 in Malaysia," said The Doctor.

"The test was good, nothing special. We try to understand something more about the weight distribution and about the rider position on the bike. The track was a little dirty so no fantastic laptimes but a lot of information. We have to do a lot of work because we have to reduce the gap and try to fix out problem."
