MotoGP Sepang: Marquez to remain in Moto2 next year

Spanish wunderkind and Phillip Island Moto2 villain Marc Marquez has opted to remain in the middleweight class next year in order to gain more experience racing four-strokes and to mop up a title he may not win this season.

The mercurial 18-year-old, who nerfed off Ratthapark Wilairot in a easily-avoidable and horrendous crash Down Under, and was made to start at the back of the grid as a penance, is only a handful of points behind Stefan Bradl with 50 left on the table.

"I'm happy with the decision, this is my first year in Moto2, we worked very hard and now my level is better than we expected at the beginning of the season. We have two-year contract to race in Moto2, and for that reason I had no pressure at the beginning of the season," said Marquez.

"After my riding progressed to a level more than we expected, I have been improving step by step, and now at the end of the season it was time to look at all the possibilities and study what we had, and I think the best option is to stay one more year Moto2, because in every race I learn something new. It was a difficult decision, but I think I made the right choice."
