British Moto2 star Bradley Smith has been ruled out of Sunday's race at the Sepang MotoGP round after a big crash in free practice earlier today left him with a crack in his left collarbone.
Smith came off on the same patch of wet tarmac which also saw Jules Cluzel go down and Marc Marquez suffer a massive highside. Smith hit Marquez's prone Suter after the patch had not been properly flagged by marshals and organisers have been fined €15,000 for the error.
The Oxfordshire copper top was taken to a medical centre in Kuala Lumpur after he complained of pains in his shoulder and chest, and then began tro cough up blood. Scans showed no signs of serious internal injuries and he was discharged from the Pusat Perubatan UKM Medical Centre earlier this evening. Smith will be back at the Sepang circuit tomorrow for consultations with Clinica Mobile staff on the recovery of his damaged left collarbone.
