MarcVDS Moto2 man Scott Redding says the chatter problems that made his life difficult at the opening Qatar round should be in decline at Jerez but also believes that laptimes at the top of the charts will be much closer in Spain.
The wild-haired Gloucestershire rider is aiming for a top-five finish to go with the points he hauled in the desert. He was fast at the twisty track during pre-season testing so has set himself a realistic goal.
"I went to Qatar looking for a top six finish, which I managed, so I'm pretty confident I can aim for the same or better this weekend. I suspect it will be tougher than in Qatar though. With the amount of testing we do at Jerez it's like everyone's home track, so I think the times at the front will be closer than ever," said Redding.
"I had some chatter problems during pre-season testing there, but we found a few things in Qatar that should help reduce this. I was pretty fast at both tests and my times for the race simulations were consistent, so I'm fairly confident that a top five or six finish is a realistic goal this weekend."
