Ray and Ryde flying in Red Bull Rookies

Bradley Ray and Kyle Ryde packed the points in the second round of the Red Bull Rookies MotoGP Cup but they were no match for the Flying Dutchman Scott Deroue who romped to a winning double.

The first race had developed into a seven rider scrap at the front with the battling Brits well in the mix. Ray had to settle for fifth having been a key player in the group up that took the fight to the leaders, setting the fastest lap of the race to that point. ?We caught them but then I just couldn?t get through the group, not without doing something a bit crazy,? said Ray.

Ryde was just behind him, running sixth and he claimed the fastest lap of the race at three quarters distance but, as he explained he was riding in some discomfort from what had been diagnosed as a grumbling appendix: ?By then my stomach was upsetting my concentration. I was thinking more about that than riding and I just lost touch with the group. Up ?till then it had been easy enough to run with them and I was looking for a good result.?

Next time out Ryde, again in contention for much of the races, finished fourth having made some adjustment to his bike to improve handling. "We changed the suspension looking for more grip. It helped in some places but I just couldn't get the drive out of turn four and onto the back straight. We were still doing OK but then Florian Alt crashed in front and it was tough to catch up from there.?

Ray failed to finish after an incident in which he tucked the front and inadvertently took the wheels from under local runner Ivo Lopes.
