Gresini Moto2 rider Gino Rea was taken out by a 'crazy pass' in today's Le Mans race when Johan Zarco touched the Londoner's front wheel with his rear through the fast first corner.
Rea had worked his way into sixth place in the space of one lap from almost the back of the grid, passing the likes of Marc Marquez, when Zarco tried a move on the inside of the Dunlop Curve, they touched and Rea was left spinning in the gravel.
“We've had a tough start to the year and when you have an opportunity like this and somebody makes a crazy pass that puts you out of the race it is frustrating. I could pretty much do what I wanted on the bike and I'd only had one major moment with it before the crash. I'm sorry for the team but we have a lot of positives to take from the weekend and it's important we do that," he said.
