Gresini Moto2 rider Gino Rea has kept hold of his seat for the Indianapolis Moto2 round amid fierce speculation team boss Fausto Gresini was looking at a possible replacement for the young Londoner, probably in the shape of former champion Toni Elias.
Rea has had a difficult debut year in the Grand Prix paddock, switching from Moriwaki to Suter frame at Le Mans and dealing with Showa suspension he hasn't used before at unfamiliar tracks. The former World Supersport rider needs a good result at the Brickyard as Elias won't be deputising for the injured Hector Barbera in Motoafter this weekend as the Spaniard should be back to fitness for Brno.
"I really need to push myself to the limit and get a result at Indianapolis. It won't be easy because once again this is another completely new circuit to me but I want and need to score a good finish. I have worked hard to get my physical and mental energy levels up over the break and I am ready for this important challenge," said Rea.
