Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has blitzed the final MotoGP free practice session at Brno this morning, finishing eight-tenths of a second ahead of factory Yamaha pair of Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo.
Pedrosa smashed the lap record and was only a gnat's outside of the circuit best lap with his 1'56.209 and it looked like Lorenzo was the only man to challenge him until Spies' final circuit saw him slide ahead of his soon-to-be-not team-mate by 0.063s.
Andrea Dovizioso charged into fourth place on the satellite Monster Yamaha with his penultimate lap and is less than a tenth behind Lorenzo while team-mate Cal Crutchlow, second with only a handful of minutes left, just slipped down to fifth but is three one-hundredths behind the Italian.
Although sixth-placed Valentino Rossi is a second slower than Pedrosa, he will be looking at the times of Spies and Lorenzo as a marker and he is only half a second off his 2013 team-mate's pace. Alvaro Bautista, who looks certain to be out of a job at the end of the season, is only 0.049s behind The Doctor.
Stefan Bradl is in eighth place but still only 1.1s slower than Pedrosa while Karel Abraham is ninth but more than two seconds off the pace. Randy De Puniet is top of the CRT class in tenth with Aleix Espargaro and Yonny Hernandez directly behind. James Ellison finished 17th and Colin Edwards, who is having electronics difficulties again, is last.
