MotoGP Misano: 'Keeping Spies is good for series' - Crutchlow

Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow has come out in support of stable-mate Ben Spies' decision to remain in MotoGP for 2013 as he teams up with Moto2 man Andrea Iannone in the newly-formed Ducati Junior team.

Crutchlow is also in favour of the emerging Moto2 riders moving up and identifies that Marc Marquez will be the rookie to beat but added that having three new guys moving into the premier class shows how well the feeder classes are working.

"I think it's good for the championship. It's good to keep Ben, he is one of the best guys out there, no doubt, and he deserved to stay in MotoGP. He has more bad luck than he has created for himself, other things have happened and it hasn't been his fault. It also shows Moto2 and Moto3 are working because they are bringing guys up," said Crutchlow, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"It's going to be good next year, three Moto2 guys in. They will have their battle - no doubt Marquez will be the best - but it will be good for us to gauge ourselves as well as all the old boys, the veterans of Grand Prix, will want to beat them.

"Ducati finally came to the conclusions of their Junior team, it wasn't set, it was so up in the air which is why I decided to steer clear of it in the end because they coudn't give me any answers and I had other things on the table. They've finally managed to secure a strong rider in Ben and good luck to them."
