McPhee steps up to Moto3 for last five rounds

Racing Steps Foundation’s John McPhee has been handed a five race ride in the Moto3 World Championship, replacing the injured Alexis Masbou in the Caretta Technology outfit.

The talented Scotsman will ride under the KRP chassis he has ridden in the Spanish Moto3 Championship but with the Caretta engine inside it. The offer comes after an impressive showing at Brno where McPhee battled up the front early in the race but slipped backwards to pick up one World Championship point.

“It's fantastic to be given an opportunity like this. Hopefully I can prove myself to the World Championship paddock and cement a permanent ride for the 2013 season with these five races,” he said.

“John is our ideal replacement. He showed everyone at last month's Czech Republic Grand Prix that he has what it takes to be a strong competitor. We hope to achieve great things together,” said Caretta Technology team principal, Giorgio Bertelli.
