Britain's Cal Crutchlow believes the 2014 spec-ECU regulations announced by MotoGP bosses today will make no difference to who wins races.

The forthright Monster Yamaha man said that although the factory teams will have one less litre of fuel on board in the season after next, the software they will be allowed to run inside the spec-ECU will enable Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa to not have to reduce power at the end of a race and maybe compromise a potential victory.

"I look at the whole thing. Lorenzo has got the best Yamaha. He has the best engine, he has the best electronics so fuel economy is already better - we know that for a fact. So he is going to finish the race and not reduce power because this year (at Motegi), he finished with a litre anyway and ours ran out," said Crutchlow, speaking at Valencia.

"It means the same guys are going to win, the races are going to be the same. We are going to have to reduce power and finish where that allows us to finish. So far as I can see, Jorge and Dani will battle for the championship next year and the year after and the year after that.

"I don't know how going to 20 litres is a help. I might be proved completely wrong. I have always been an admirer of how Carmelo (Ezpeleta, Dorna boss) does it because he is trying his best. Hopefully it will work and everyone will have to cut power.

"But if you look at the race result this year, Lorenzo did two extra laps so from my point of view it is already a disadvantage and the same guys are going to win because they have the best equipment."
