Following the farcical Monza World Superbike round last year which saw wet tyres falling to pieces after just minutes on a drying track, Pirelli have introduced a new intermediate tyre to try and ensure such chaos doesn't happen again.
The Pirelli Wet has, apparently, been designed to respond better to the expectations of teams and riders, and to have a wider spectrum of use.
"Thanks to its characteristics the new intermediate tyre may turn out to be decisive in certain weather conditions and crucial in the race strategy that the teams choose to adopt," said a man from the Pirelli ice-cream department.
