Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo has remained on top of the MotoGP free practice timesheets at Mugello this morning but it was another crash for Marc Marquez who tumbed unhurt into the gravel at Correntaio
It was the youngster's third crash of the weekend so far and althought nothing like a serious as his 170mph tumble yesterday, it will be cause for concern for his team.
Lorenzo was the only man under the 1'48s barrier with a 1'47.972 and a quarter of a second faster than Dani Pedrosa, who has found a massive amount of time overnight to post a 1'48.222. Stefan Bradl was third on a 1'48.489 and half a second off the pace.
Valentino Rossi's fears yesterday seem to be coming true as he was unable to go faster than yesterday but was still fourth quickest on a 1'48.580 and fending off a charge from the Gresini Honda of Alvaro Bautista.
Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow was also unable to improve on his time from yesterday and is in sixth and a quarter of a second off the pace and in front of a trio of Ducatis led by Andrea Dovizioso in seventh. Nicky Hayden and Michele Pirro are eighth and ninth with Aleix Espargaro bagging the last default place in qualifying two this afternoon.
Andrea Iannone, Marquez and Bradley Smith, whose finger looks like a recently-burst sausage after yesterday's crash, top the fastest men who will contest qualifying one while Michael Laverty continues to close the gap to the leaders.
