Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo was passed fit to participate at the Assen MotoGP morning warm-up and finished the session in eighth place after completing 11 laps of the Dutch circuit - almost half race distance.
The reigning world champion only returned to the circuit yesterday afternoon after undergoing surgery to plate and screw the collarbone he broke in practice on Thursday afternoon, and was only 0.7s off the pace of fastest man and team-mate Valentino Rossi. Lorenzo set his quickest lap of 1'36.517 on lap ten of the 11, and was held up by traffic on the 11th.
As Lorenzo sat down in his garage, he nodded to his crew as if to say 'Yes, we're ok here'. He now faces another medical check before being cleared to race.
If he takes to the grid, he will not use another engine, as had been rumoured, and will continue with motor number four and start from 12th.
