MotoGP Indy: Kenny Roberts planning return

Legendary Grand Prix racer and team manager Kenny Roberts has revealed he is planning a return to the MotoGP paddock with a new team and 'in a big way'.

The 1978-80 500cc World Champion looks set to take advantage of new regulations which make it easier to get on to the grid and hopes to confirm what his plans will be in the next month or so.

"We’re working on it. And we’re working on something quite big – it’s going to happen or it’s not going to happen. It’s not going to be almost there. When we come back we’ll come back in a big way! And if you don’t see me, you’ll know we didn’t get it done," said Roberts, speaking at Indianapolis.

"It’s getting to the point where 2014’s maybe tough, but again…if it’s a big way, we can probably get it done. Any longer than the next month or so, I don’t think it’s possible for ‘14."

Roberts last had his own team in the championship with the KR212V featuring a Honda RC212V motor but didn't achieve the results he hoped for.
