Update: It has been confirmed that Redding has fractured his left wrist and will go to Melbourne Hospital by helicopter for treatment.
Moto2 championship leader Scott Redding has been taken to a Melbourne hospital for checks on a suspected fractured left wrist following a big crash in today's qualifying session at Phillip Island.
The youngster, who has a nine-point lead over Pol Espargaro, was pinged over the highside of his MarcVDS Kalex through the final corner after a brave attempt to hold on to the bike and ended in the gravel, clutching his arm. After checks at the circuit medical centre, it was deemed precautionary for him to go to hospital for a more detailed examination.
