Wayne Ryan, the former British 125GP runner-up from New Romney, Kent, is to join the Madrid-based Calvo team for this year's FIM CEV Repsol International Moto3 Championship.
The UK rider - who is fully-funded and managed by the Racing Steps Foundation - finished ninth in the 250cc series last year with the British KRP squad on its M3-02 Honda-powered bike.
The switch to Calvo - which won the Moto3 World Championship with Maverick Vinales last year - provides 17 years-old Ryan with superior KTM power for his 2014 campaign.
The British teenager - who returns to the Spanish series for a third season - will also compete in the single-round FIM European Championship and is hopeful of earning one or more World Championship GP wildcards.
"This is a big step for me that I'm really excited about," said Ryan. "I've served my apprenticeship in the series over the last two years so the goal now has to be regular podium finishes.
"I got my first CEV win at the start of 2013 but obviously after that things didn't work out in quite the way we hoped due mainly to the power disadvantage we were trying to overcome.
"But this year there can be no such excuses. The Racing Steps Foundation has signed me up with a top team on a top bike, so there can only be one target - and that's to win the title."
