Jerez Moto2 test: Lowes pleased with new chassis

Britain’s Sam Lowes debuted a new Speed Up chassis during the Moto2 tests at Jerez and has said he is pleased with it and his times over the course of the three days.

The reigning World Supersport Champion is still getting used to the characteristics of the Dunlop tyres after three years on Pirelli but says with some new parts, including a more flexible swingarm, he should be in better shape when they return to the Spanish track next month for the final test sessions.

“It’s been a good test, we have tried the new chassis which works well and I am pleased with the laptimes. I’m not confident enough yet with the bike to go for that one flat-out lap but we didn’t come here to do that,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Jerez.

“I did a lot of laps in the high 1’42s which is where I think we should be. If it was a race, I would think we could be there or thereabouts but with the new parts coming as well, we should be closer to the front next time out.”

Lowes finished in sixth place and seven-tenths off leader Mika Kallio on the MarcVDS Kalex.
