MotoGP Argentina: Lowes brushes off qualifying crash

Speed Up’s Sam Lowes brushed off a crash which effectively ended his Moto2 qualifying session at the Argentine MotoGP round, saying that it’s possible to get a top-ten result from a deep position on the grid.

The reigning World Supersport Champion will start tomorrow’s race from 22nd on the grid but his laptime is only 1.2s off the pace, so with some tweaks in morning warm-up, the Derby-based rider is confident of making his way through the pack, especially after setting some fastest overall sector times before his highside.

“It was one of those sessions but to be honest we have been improving the bike all day and I did my best lap on the last lap when the tyre was really old so I am quite happy with that. I think we can improve in warm-up,” said Lowes, speaking in Argentina.

“Obviously, it’s not idea being down there but the times are so tight and I am sure we can fight for a decent race tomorrow. You have seen it a lot in Moto2, people qualfying in the 20s and finish in the top ten. We will see how we get on.”
