MotoGP Argentina: Kent takes ninth despite last-corner crash

Britain’s Danny Kent still took ninth place in today’s Moto3 race in Argentina depsite being nerfed off by his Husqvarna in the last corner on the last lap by team-mate Niki Ajo.

Kent still had a connection with his bike as he crossed the line and only parted company with it a couple of feet later, so according to the rules he keeps ninth place but he was unhappy with the conduct of Ajo, who is the team boss’s son.

John McPhee also crashed out of the race, losing the front with 14 laps to go while challenging for a top five spot when he went wide and got on to a dirty part of the circuit.

The race was won by Romano Fenati in an intriguing contest, with Alex Marquez  and Jack Miller joining the Italian on the podium.

As a huge crowd poured into the circuit to watch Sunday’s Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina action the Moto3 riders produced another great spectacle with Fenati making his way through at the last corner to take the win.

Marquez and Miller appeared to be unhappy with Fenati’s late move but the race result stood after it was reviewed by Race Direction.

A brilliant ride from birthday boy Livio Loi saw him clinch fourth spot as he came from ninth on the grid on the day he turned 17.

Efren Vazquez, McPhee's team-mate, ended up crossing the line sixth, just behind compatriot Alex Rins, with the former having run at the front for most of the race.
