Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo says today’s third place in the Argentine MotoGP was the sweetest of his career as he believes he has received a lot of unnecessary criticism for his two errors at Qatar and Austin.
The former champion led for just under half the race at Rio Hondo before the seemingly-unstoppable Marc Marquez came past and disappeared into the distance.
“My third position is probably the most sweet of my career because I arrive after two big mistakes but I think anyway I have received too much criticism. It’s true that I make some mistake but in the last year I make very good races and even not in our best shape, we can still fight with the Hondas,” said Lorenzo, speaking in Argentina.
“We have to still keep pushing like now and when our moment arrive, I think we will be prepared to try to win some races. It was a delicate race as another mistake will create even more critics so I needed to concentrate, especially at the lights.
“I didn’t expect to stay so many laps in first position, but we did and then Marquez went past me and he was so strong and I didn’t expect Dani was so strong. I was very tired and I tried to stay in second place but it was impossible.”
