MotoGP Jerez: Crashes halt Lowes’ Moto2 charge

Speed Up’s Sam Lowes crashed out of today’s Moto2 race at Jerez after losing the front into turn two after charging up from 15th to 11th place in the early stages.

The reigning World Supersport Champion said he was struggling with the front end in the race but that it had been ok up to that point all weekend. He re-mounted only to crash again on lap 18, and this time called it a day.

“It was quite a surprise because all weekend we have been good with the front so it is something we will have to look into. I was in 11th place and felt not too bad but I couldn’t ride the bike how I wanted to,” said Lowes, speaking at Jerez.

“In the hairpin I just lost the front. It’s a big shame as I thought we could push a little but more I was struggling with the front so we need to find out what it was and come back stronger.”
