MotoGP Jerez test: Pedrosa works on early-race pace

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa believes he has found a way to fix his slow pace in the early laps of MotoGP races but doesn’t yet know whether it will work at Le Mans.

At the Jerez test, the Spaniard was looking for a better-balanced RC213V and after trying myriad shock and fork settings over 51 laps of Jerez, he thinks he has something.

“Today we had no new items on the bike but tried some suspension settings and playing with the chassis to try and get more feeling. We need to make the bike more stable on corner entry but when you make changes, you sacrifice other things so it’s a compromise overall,” said Pedrosa, speaking at Jerez.

“We work a lot on setups on fork and shock, and of course you win and lose but finally we found an idea that might suit the track at Le Mans. We just have to go and try there as the track temperatures are completely different so we can see how the bike and tyres work.”

His team have spent the last 18 months finding a way for Pedrosa to be fast in the later stages, which has finally worked, now they have make these settings work with yesterday’s findings.
