‘Options’ for Redding if no works Honda at Gresini next year

Britain’s Scott Redding says he has options in MotoGP next year is his current Gresini Honda team are unable to provide the factory ride his current contract stipulates.

Redding, who is the leading production Honda rider at the moment, says his contract promises a factory bike equal to Alvaro Bautista’s in 2015 but he will be able to go elsewhere if that turns out not to be the case.

“I am happy with what we are doing but on paper it doesn’t look right. A better bike would be much appreciated so I can show what I can do and it’s hard to come from fighting for a championship and winning races to finishing in 12th,” said Redding, speaking at the Sachsenring.

“My contract says that after this year I get a factory bike like Alvaro. In the last few races, I heard some different things but I want a competitive bike to go to the podium so if I can’t get it with this team, I am sure I can find somewhere else.

“I want to stay with the Gresini team, with Honda, because I like the bike, the team is good and I think I can make good results with them but if they can’t provide me with the package to make the podium, there is no reason for me to stay.

“I go racing to win. We need to see what the options are and I do have other options. At the moment I am not greatly worried but I would like to stay.”
