Although Scott Redding cannot confirm yet whether he is to get a factory Honda RC213V next season, he is hoping that if it comes off, he will receive the same specification bike as MotoGP champion Marc Marquez.
Currently, the Gresini team are contracted to use Showa suspension and Nissin brakes and although Redding says they are fine at the moment, he would like to race the Spanish wunderkind on equal terms.
“If I get the factory bike, I would like to have the same one that Marc has. I don’t know how good or how bad Showa and Nissin is. This is the problem, I have no experience, I have nothing to compare,” said Redding, speaking at the track.
“To be fair this year, it has been working well but when you want to be fighting for podium and top-fives, you need the best of the best with no doubts in your mind. My feeling this year is that some tracks with the Showa, I am losing some traction compared with Nicky.
“At Jerez, there was a lot of rear spin and there was nothing I could do about it. At most tracks it’s not bad but some I see they have more traction and ask whether it’s me or suspension. I meed to know what it is.”
