MotoGP Brno: Kent snatches third in Moto3

Husqvarna’s Danny Kent snatched a podium on the run to the line in today’s Brno MotoGP Moto3 race, taking advantage of a last corner exit bust-up to drive out of the last turn and nicked third place by 0.030s from Alex Marquez.

Kent was ninth on the start of the last lap after nearly crashing on the exit before going up the hill but got his head down to make his way through.  He took advantage of mistakes from other riders and got great drive out of the final corner to steal his first podium of the year.

“I felt strong all race. We knew were were strong on old tyres, just struggling on new tyres. I got myself into a strong position on the second to last lap but had a moment up the hill, so had to fight my way back but it was a great race and a great podium,” said Kent in parc ferme.

It was disaster again for Scotland’s John McPhee who got tangled up with Jorge Navarro for the second race in succession and failed to finish when the MarcVDS rider took him out.

Alexis Masbou won the race with Enea Bastianini in second place, riding with a cracked ankle. Alex Marquez ended just behind Kent with series leader Jack Miller in fifth. Alex Rins thought he had won the race with a lap to go and he dropped back to ninth after doing a lot of unnecessary celebrating.
