Successful World Endurance test for Laverty

PBM's Michael Laverty went straight from competing in the MotoGP round of Brno to a completely different style of racing, as he will be riding for the YART team in the Oschersleben Eight-hours over the weekend.

The Powys-based rider completed a successful test yesterday onboard his Yamaha, alongside PBM team-mate, Broc Parkes. Laverty is feeling in a confident mood, and is relishing the chance to switch from Bridgestone to Pirelli tyres once again.

"I am competing in the World Endurance championship over the weekend, in Oschersleben in Germany, and I was testing on track and it went really well," said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"I am really enjoying the Yamaha, and we did some fast times, alongside my PBM team-mate in MotoGP, Broc Parkes. I am also back on Pirelli tyres, and I haven't got traction control so it feels quite freeing to be back on the Yamaha. The bike has a good chassis and it definitely felt comfortable going out on track. It does make a change from the Bridgestone tyres too."

Laverty is also preparing for his home MotoGP round at Silverstone next weekend, he would like to stay in the series next year, but is unsure if he will get a competitive ride, and has not ruled out MCE British Superbike or World Superbike opportunities.

"It is hard to know where I will be next year. I am not sure if I will stay in MotoGP next year if there is nothing competitive for me in the series. I would like to stay in MotoGP but it is looking unlikely, but I would look to go in BSB and World Superbikes too, if I was offered a competitive ride."
