MotoGP Silverstone: Lowes lacking front-end feel

Speed Up’s Sam Lowes needs a little more feeling from the of his Moto2 machine in order to challenge for the top spots but still managed to bag seventh place in this afternoon’s second practice session.

He has been working on using the harder of the Dunlop compounds and only chucked in a soft tyre this afternoon but it was enough to take the Derby-based man to less than half a second off quickest rider Esteve Rabat.

“Today was pretty good to be honest. We did a lot of work on the hard tyre this morning and some of this afternoon, then put the soft tyre in. I am just missing a little bit of front feeling but had a got another lap I would have been closer. I am only 0.4s off,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“I felt not great at the end, compared to how I know I can feel on it and the front was a little bit low so I couldn’t use all the grip that is there. The new tank is not a massive step but a little bit better. I need to be on the podium, and that’s it.”
