MotoGP Silverstone: Marquez ‘improves’ over bumps

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez continued his dominance in the MotoGP class during the qualifying session at Silverstone, and his team have been working hard to make sure his bike absorbed the bumps around the British track.

Whatever his team did – it worked, and the crew managed to ease the nerves of the reigning champion. Soon the Spaniard found a good rhythm, and it showed after a quick 2’00.829, which was a tenth off lap record pace.

“I was a little bit afraid on the first lap, but I pushed hard, but I feel good and I have a good rhythm,” said Marquez, speaking at the track this evening.

“We have improved over the bumps I feel safe here, and I hope it is going to be sunny and that we have a good race. At the lowest corner of the circuit I crashed [in free practice] I thought I was too fast and I tried to stop the bike, and I know tomorrow in that corner it is going to be slower – so that is good to learn today.

“The track is a little bit bumpier than last year but it is the same for everyone and we need to concentrate and find a good step up and absorb the bumps.”
