MotoGP Silverstone: Rins snatches Moto3 win from Marquez, Kent ninth

It was the battle of the Alex’s, in particular those onboard the Estrella Honda bikes during the Moto3 race at Silverstone this afternoon. Rins and Marquez left it to the final corner on the last lap to really battle it out for the win, with Rins taking the spoils, with a 0.01 second advantage.

On the penultimate lap it was a four-way fight between the duelling Estrella pair, with Bastianni and Oliveira getting into the mix, but in the end the two Alex’s were too strong and took up the two top steps of the podium.

Meanwhile Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jack Miller still leads the Moto3 championship – but his advantage has been cut to 13 points, as the Aussie was only able to make it sixth across the finishing line.

Red Bull Husqvarna’s Danny Kent ended the race as the top Brit, as he came away with a place just inside the top ten – in ninth. Fellow countryman John McPhee, narrowly missed out on tenth, and had to settle for 11th at the flag.

Redline KTM’s Joe Irving, made his wildcard debut in the class, and retired after only the first lap. The youngster is more accustomed with competing in the Motul British Motostar class in the MCE British Superbike series.
