Britain’s Leon Camier has identified that he needs to use the rear brake on his production Drive M7 Honda in order to up his pace in tomorrow’s Misano MotoGP but is pleased to have made massive progress over today’s session.

The former British Superbike Champion has been studying Scott Redding and Marc Marquez, and says what the reigning champion does with the rear stopper and his transition to full lean angle is incredible. He

“I have changed my style a little bit, which is helping, but we need to make another step for sure. I was on a really good lap and through the first split we have been fast all weekend. I was getting a fair bit of movement and, in free practice, in to the fast right out the back I lost the front there. It’s sixth gear flat out, so it puts the shits up you a little bit,” said Camier, speaking at Misano.

“So in qualifying, I was getting the movement and I didn’t push it so hard and maybe this is somewhere I can change my style a little to help. We need to work on race pace. I am a little concerned over front movement. It seems my style is aggressive on the front, so that needs to change. I know Scott has lost the front twice so he is having similar problems.

“I need to change the amount of rear brake and where I use it. If you can use the rear it stops you having to load the front so much and it you can put the thing to the side with the rear, then as you load the front tyre it’s not so close to the edge. Watch Marc when he goes into a corner, he brakes and goes straight to his knee, because he is sideways. These front have got so much grip but it takes time to learn to do it.”
