MotoGP Argentina: Test error writes off months of work for Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo revealed last night at the Argentine MotoGP round that a small mistake with his seating position has led to Ducati writing off months of testing work.

At the Valencia test, the Ducati newboy finalised the ergonomics of his GP17 but ended up with a seat that was too low. Lorenzo realised this at Termas de Rio Hondo and will have it raised but it means that a huge chunk of data collected so far can be lobbed in a skip.

“We found something important today, some modifications we made on the ergonomics of the bike, especially in the seat. When I first rode the bike in Valencia, I felt the bike was quite high compared to my previous bike, I wanted it a bit lower. This was probably a mistake," said Lorenzo, speaking at the track.

“We chose the wrong way and we missed a lot of months, thrown away. Now this position and some modifications we are going to do in future, we are going to get again the front weight and improve the feeling, at least to stay closer to the other riders.”

Lorenzo hopes that the alterations will put more weight over the front of the bike and he will not have to fight so hard, therefore wearing himself out.

“I will be better when I continue with this ergonomy of the bike, I won’t go out of the bike like I used to do, I will get less tired and my pace will be more constant.”
