MotoGP Mugello: Rossi may have to limit laps in practice

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi may have to limit the amount of laps he does in practice at the Mugello MotoGP round as he is still in pain following the motocross crash he had this time last week.

The Doctor spent one night in hospital after getting a jump wrong at a local motocross track. He has already ridden a Tmax and an R6 to see how comfortable he is but stresses it is nothing compared to the physicality of an M1.

"I'm not at 100 per cent, but is still Thursday so will be also important to try to improve through to Sunday and make a good race. For riding the motorcycle I think two things - my movement on the seat, for change direction, which here in Mugello is quite severe and especially when you push hard you need to breathe longer and I still have some pain,” said Rossi, speaking at Mugello.

"I feel lucky because sincerely, with that crash, it's very easy to break something and stay at home for the two most important races of the season. So for me it is great to be here and tomorrow to try. Tomorrow morning I will start normally and try to understand if I have some particular pain and need to do less laps to keep some energy for Sunday."

Rossi added that even though he still rode motocross after he injured his shoulder in 2010, his career as a motocrosser is probably now over.
