MotoGP Argentina: Dovizioso satisfied with podium finish

Factory Ducati MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso was content with his third place finish in Argentina, despite not being too happy with the grip provided from his rear tyre.

Valentino Rossi piped the Italian on the final lap for second position, after Marc Marquez cleared off into the distance. Despite losing out to his compatriot on the final lap, Dovizioso said he was happy with the result, if not the way the his GP19 performed.

“Our target was the podium and we did it, so we are happy to make important points at a bad track,” said Dovizioso who surrendered the World Championship lead to Marquez.

“But I am not too happy in the way that the tyre worked in the race. I couldn’t be as fast as I wanted in the last ten laps to create the gap to Vale. So Vale was able to study my way to ride and created the overtake in the last lap. I couldn’t answer but third is okay.

“I’m not too happy about the way the tyre worked, so we have to study I think it will be important to analyse and understand what we can improve.”

He continued, “when Marc is like this he is unbeatable but unfortunately this is not news in some tracks or moment with Marc. We need to look at the big picture and try to bring in the maximum points.”
