Jerez MotoGP test: McPhee pleased with 'respectable' lap time

Scotland's John McPhee topped the final Moto3 test at Jerez before the season recommences at the Andalucian track this weekend.

The Petronas Sprinta rider put in what he described as a 'respectable' lap time to end the day on a 1'46.263, three-tenths ahead of the pack and half a second under Brad Binder's 2015 lap record.

"It’s been a fantastic day. I was smiling for the first three or four laps because I was just so happy to be riding the bike again and to be back here at the racetrack with my team," said the Oban rider.

"Honestly, the day couldn’t have gone any better. In the first session we focused mainly on just riding and trying to come back up to speed. I think the lap time we made was really respectable, so that ticked the box.

"Then in the second session we started to work towards the race, doing some laps on the old tyre. Overall it’s been a really good day and I can’t wait for the weekend to start."
