MotoGP Le Mans: Marini escapes serious injury in massive practice crash

Moto2 series leader Luca Marini escaped serious injury in a massive free practice crash at Le Mans this afternoon.

The Sky VR46 man was pitched off his Kalex as he went under the Dunlop bridge in a highside reminiscent of 500GP two-strokes.

Following a trip to the medical centre and then hospital, Marini was given the all-clear by medics after it was initially thought he had broken his ankle. Ir was his second crash of the day.

"After the crash this morning, in FP2 I did a violent high-side. I suddenly found myself on the tarmac and I could not do anything to avoid it," said Marini.

"My ankle is painful but there are no fractures. It won't be easy to get back on track tomorrow, but I will give my best."

Although he will be on track tomorrow and Sunday, the injury means that Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzeccho and Sam Lowes have a bog opportunity to close in but the Italian's 30-point lead means he will still be in charge on Sunday night.
