BSB Thruxton, Race One Results | Kyle Ryde returns to winning ways in a Yamaha 1-2

Kyle Ryde converted his pole position into a race win in the opening race at Thruxton as he led an OMG Yamaha 1-2 finish.

It was Kyle Ryde who set the pace in qualifying as he grabbed pole position from Jason O'Halloran and Billy McConnell. Despite having pole Ryde said his one aim was to get his first podium at Thruxton, but he went on to do one better.

After a hectic final five laps around Thruxton, it was the pole sitter of Ryde who went on to claim victory. Despite there being seven riders who could have realistically won going into the final chicane Ryde played his cards right and claimed his first-ever win at Thruxton.

Just behind Ryde was his OMG GRILLA Yamaha team-mate, Ryan Vickers. After claiming three wins last time out at Brands Hatch Vickers is on form as he finished second in the opening race at Thruxton.

O'Halloran has been labelled by many as the 'Master of Thruxton, and the Australian added to his total today. In the last 10 races at Thruxton O'Halloran has stood on the podium 10 times.

Despite being a local rider Tommy Bridewell's quest for a BSB podium at Thruxton continues. Bridewell led for a portion of the race but had to settle for fourth today.

McConnell started from the front row and got stuck in with the group. Many expected McConnell would burn out his tyre, but he ended up claiming an incredible fifth place.

The top BMW in Race One was Leon Haslam. Even though he challenged for the lead in the early stages of the race the 'Pocket Rocket' could only manage sixth place in Race One.

Former team-mates Lee Jackson and Max Cook were in a battle for seventh place in the latter stages of the race. In the end, it was the Mastermac Honda rider of Jackson who claimed seventh and Cook finished eighth.

Christian Iddon qualified down in 15th but put on a display in the race. The Ducati has not gone well at Thruxton since switching to a V4, but Iddon put in a valiant effort as he battled for the lead. However, he dropped back the order late on and finished in ninth.

For only the second time in the 2024 BSB season, Peter Hickman has finished inside the top ten. The FHO Racing BMW team have struggled so far this season but this has been Hickmans best weekend so far.

Championship challenger, Glenn Irwin, has struggled all weekend and could only manage a 14th-place finish.
