Leon Haslam has revealed to BSN that he had the chance to race in British Superbikes and World Endurance in 2025, before signing with Moto Rapido.
Moto Rapido confirmed earlier this week (6th of November) that Leon Haslam will be their British Superbike rider in 2025.
This deal has surprised many as Haslam had been riding for his own ROKiT Haslam BMW Team for the last two years. However, in an exclusive interview with BSN Haslam revealed that he had been contemplating riding in British Superbikes and World Endurance next season.
The 41-year-old believed that he had a good chance of becoming a World Champion and a two-time British Superbike Champion with his unnamed manufacturer.
“One of the very serious offers I had was for BSB and World Endurance," Haslam told BSN. "There was only one round that clashed, also I could have been a test rider for that manufacturer. So, talk about putting a busy schedule together, I was looking at a 16-race season plus 10 or 15 tests.
"That offer was the most exciting before this Ducati option because I was riding a bike loads and I could have potentially been a World Champion in World Endurance. I could have also a good go at a BSB title. Those are the things that I was contemplating as a rider."
In the end, Haslam decided to sign for Moto Rapido due to the 'willingness' of their Team Owner, Steve 'Wilf' Moore.
"I would only say it was the willingness and want of 'Wilf' and Ducati that trumped that offer," Haslam stated. "To put all my focus into winning another title is the most exciting thing for me.”
