Shane Byrne: “I am really enjoying riding the Airwaves Ducati 1098R and it is suited to a technically challenging circuit like Oulton Park so I am looking forward to performing well this weekend. I achieved podiums there last year and I am confident I can continue my run of good form, secure more championship points and hopefully extend my championship lead. The Airwaves Ducati team have worked so hard over the last couple of rounds to get the best out of me and the bike and I think that will continue to pay off this weekend and we will achieve more great results.”
Leon Haslam: "Oulton Park has a fantastic layout and always promotes good racing. I’ve always done pretty well there. I know after the disappointment of Thruxton I need to get my championship going so I’m looking forward to winning. That’s what we’re here to do. It’s a long season and we’re making progress each time I’m out on the bike. The HM Plant team is a fantastic squad, packed with experience. They’ve got a link to the factory and HRC and we’ve got a great crew – all of which are now good mates. We’ve gelled really well and considering that we’ve got a new bike, a new team, new tyres and only a little testing under our belts, I know that there’s more to come from the bike, the team and myself, so I’m confident that we’ll be winning races very soon. I’m also hoping I’ve got my bad luck for the season out of the way early!”
Stuart Easton: “There are many types of corner at this meeting, on and off camber, hairpins, radiused curves and some very demanding gradients. I love it as a pure racing track, but it does take supreme concentration to get the perfect lap… and a bit of luck with the way the start pans out."
Leon Camier: "I am looking forward to getting to Oulton Park and using the data we gathered at Thruxton to improve my performance more. I have worked on getting fitter and stronger and I am feeling really good now, I am confident that I can overcome my injury issues and set myself higher goals this weekend. Oulton Park is a circuit I like and the Airwaves Ducati team have done well there in the past; I think I can achieve a good result and improve my position in the championship standings.”
Cal Crutchlow: "After the win I never went out to celebrate – honest! I went to the gym the next morning, as that’s what champions do. I want to continue the success we had at Thruxton at Oulton Park this weekend and I think we can. It was an honour battling with the likes of Shakey and Michael and I learned a lot from the experience. I’m confident I can keep this up as I know the pressures of leading races and a championship from my time in the British Supersport series: I’ve done it before. I know that consistency is the key to winning a championship. I love racing at the moment and the HM Plant Honda team is doing a great job and making it easier for me as a rider to chase podiums and wins. I like Oulton Park a lot. I’ve had numerous Supersport wins there and didn’t do too bad on the Suzuki last year, as I was top five. Oulton is a real riders’ circuit, so we know that the likes of Shakey, Michael and Leon will go well there. I’m looking forward to carrying on the season in the style we’ve started it in, as I want to be leading the championship for the rest of the year!”
Billy McConnell: “Some of the corners have such a radius on ‘em that they are like berms on a motocross track. With the agility of our chassis, and the controllability of the engine management, I want to pin the throttle as much as I can and try to use the corners for traction."
