Kyle Ryde secured pole position at Oulton Park for the opening race of the weekend and the British Superbike Showdown (BSB).
At the opening round of the British Superbike Showdown, Kyle Ryde will start the opening race from Pole Position.
The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider was in fourth place at the head of the second row. However, just as the chequered flag was waved the #77 crossed the line and set a lap time good enough for pole.
Ryde is in second place in the British Superbike Championship, only 19 points behind Tommy Bridewell. This gap, and the increase of points for the Showdown, means Ryde has a good chance of clawing back some points at Oulton Park.
After Qualifying Ryde spoke to Shane Byrne about his 'messy' Qualifying session that resulted in a Pole Position.
"The 1:33.8 lap I did pretty early was a banker," Ryde told Byrne. "I tried to find some track position and get a tow but everyone was backing out of it. Everything got a bit messy, I must have done six or seven slow laps. I actually found out on the last lap the tyre pressure might have gone down a bit and I had loads of grip for some reason. I messed up at Hissy's and folded the front but managed to keep the lap going and they just told me I set a purple last sector to pip Josh (Brookes). To be honest I was happy to be in fourth but it is a big bonus to be on pole position."
There are still nine races left in the 2024 BSB season and three races this weekend at Oulton Park. After winning two races last time out at Cadwell Park Ryde's belief is high for the remainder of the season.
