Kyle Ryde is in the hunt for his first British Superbike (BSB) title as the Showdown starts this weekend.

Last time out Kyle Ryde claimed two wins and a second place at Cadwell Park, a track he was not expecting much from. Heading into the British Superbike Showdown Ryde has a very real possibility of winning the BSB title.

The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider is 19 points behind Tommy Bridewell at the top of the table. After the opening day of Practice at Oulton Park Ryde ended up in fourth place. This was the highest out of any of the Championship contenders.

After two sessions Ryde is happy with how his bike is set up for what could be a crucial weekend.

"The bike was working quite well actually so I am happy," Ryde told Steve Day in pitlane on Friday evening.

"The speed came quite naturally this morning so that is always a nice feeling. At Oulton Park sometimes you scratch for Friday and Saturday morning. But the speed was there straight away and I am happy with my bike already, we are just making little tweaks to make the tyre last longer."

Ryde continued by saying: "I didn't bust my balls out there to get first, second or third, I don't know where I ended up but I know it is a secure spot for Q2. The jobs done, I wish it had gone a bit smoother so I could get a bit more of a run in, I had a few technical issues so I missed the last few minutes. But I got the lap time that go me through so that is day one done, job done so hopefully we can build on this tomorrow."

Ryde was then asked heading into the showdown where his mind is at after a brilliant weekend at Cadwell Park.

"In my mindset, I think what I did at Cadwell Park I can do anywhere," Ryde said confidently. "I have just got to knuckle down and do all the hard work today and tomorrow. Then hopefully I can take a few more trophies home and a big old haul of points as well."
