Thruxton BSB: Brookes 'not bothered' about grid slot

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes isn't bothered about his starting position for tomorrow's opening MCE British Superbike race as he says that, if his bike is right, he has the beating of anyone at Thruxton.

The Aussie only got a handful of fast laps in the dry but has a new setup for his GSX-R100 which he reckons should do the job when lights go out. He starts from the outside of the fourth row, next to Shane Byrne.

"I'm not really that bothered about my starting position, as if the bike is right I can come from anywhere on the grid, like I did last year, and beat anyone round here. I just needed the track time today, which we lost, to get the suspension set-up and perfected, as it isn't quite right yet," said Brookes, who isn't sporting his James Hunt-style leathers patch this weekend.

"I want to get on top of that first and foremost. We've made changes but we'll just have to see where we are now in morning warm-up as we didn't get to try it today."
