Results from Race 1 at the 2026 Assen BSB, the opening race at the first Showdown round of the 2026 season.

Scott Redding took a commanding victory in BSB Race 1 at Assen, his fifth of the season.

Ryan Vickers led early on on the Honda, but Redding was quick to move through and into the lead having started well from the second row.

Vickers would hang onto Redding for a while in the 17-lap race, but drifted back in the second half, dropping behind Kyle Ryde and Leon Haslam who ended up second and third, respectively, Ryde arriving to P2 after dropping towards the back of the top-10 early on.

Vickers took that fourth place ahead of Bradley Ray, who dropped to 15th at the start before coming back through to fifth.

Rory Skinner was sixth over the line, ahead of Ilya Mikhalchik, Max Cook, Danny Kent, and Jason O'Halloran who completed the top-10.

Qualifying

Conditions for qualifying at Assen deteriorated throughout, from the beginning of Q1. Some dry times were put in at the beginning of that first session, but by the end of Q2 it was wet tyres all-round.

Leon Haslam made the best choice in Q2 by starting the session with intermediate tyres. Others would switch to the intermediate rear later on, but Haslam got the best of the conditions in the opening minutes of the session and took advantage of that to take pole position.

Ryan Vickers was one of the later riders to switch to an intermediate rear and he took second place, beating Danny Kent who went straight out with the intermediate at the start and qualified third.

Kyle Ryde took fourth ahead of Scott Redding, the pair of them switching tyres mid-sesssion. Jason O'Halloran completed the top-six.

Rory Skinner was seventh ahead of Storm Stacey and Glenn Irwin, while Max Cook completed the top-10.

Bradley Ray was fastest on Friday but struggled to set a lap time in Q2, ultimately finishing 13th.

FP3

Ryan Vickers topped a wet FP3 session at Assen and was the only rider to lap in the 1:45s.

Max Cook and Ilya Mikhalchick completed the top-three, ahead of Joe Talbot, Christian Iddon, and Jason O'Halloran in the top-six.

Bradley Ray, who was fastest overall on Friday albeit 11th in pre-qualifying, finished the session last having completed only four laps compared to the five or six of the rest of the field, with the exception of Scott Redding (eighth) who completed only three laps.
