Repsol Honda Team Manager, Alberto Puig, has discussed the split between Honda and Repsol for 2025.
On the eighth of September, it was announced that Repsol and Honda would be parting ways at the end of 2024. The iconic oil company has been the title sponsor of the factory Honda Squad since 1995 but will disappear from their machines in 2025.
During their 30 years together HRC and Repsol have claimed 15 World Championships, 10 Team World Championships, 183 premier class race wins and 455 premier class podiums.
After the announcement, the Repsol Honda Team Manager, Alberto Puig, has discussed his thoughts on this seismic decision.
"Well, I think that both companies did a fantastic job. This alliance was great for many, many years, 30 years. We won many titles and there was clear dominance in the sport for many years.
"They (Repsol) developed a very good product for the Honda bike, and Honda produced many good bikes for Repsol to show their potential. I think that it was a very good alliance and like everything in life, sometimes it comes to an end.
"There is a lot of respect from each company for each company and both companies are very grateful for the effort that each other made in this long journey. So from the Honda point of view, we are happy about this and we can say thank you. We are sure that all the victories and titles that we won together will remain in the time and history of motorsport."
